What does Odoo really cost? Licence, implementation and support

What a small or medium-sized business in Ireland pays for Odoo: the subscription, the implementation and support afterwards, and what moves the number.

"What does Odoo cost?" is the first question in almost every meeting. The honest answer has three parts, and they are paid to different people. Here is how it fits together for a small or medium-sized business in Ireland.

The three parts of the bill

PartPaid toHow it is priced
Odoo subscriptionOdoo S.A., directlyPer user, per month
ImplementationYour Odoo partnerPer project or per phase
Support afterwardsYour partner, if you want itPer month, optional

Many quotes mix these together. Keep them apart and the comparison gets much easier.

1. The Odoo subscription

You buy the subscription straight from Odoo, at Odoo's own price. It is charged per user and month, and all the standard apps are included: CRM, sales, invoicing, accounting, inventory, website and more. You do not pay extra per app.

Which plan you need mostly depends on three questions:

  • Do you run more than one company? Several companies in one database, for example an Irish and a Swedish one, usually needs the larger plan.
  • Do you need Odoo Studio or integrations through the API? These also usually need the larger plan.
  • Where should it run? Odoo Online is hosted by Odoo and included. Odoo.sh, for custom code, costs extra.

Odoo publishes its current prices on odoo.com/pricing. Check there, because prices and plans change, and the amount depends on the number of users and on monthly or yearly billing.

2. The implementation

This is the work of setting Odoo up for how you actually work: configuring the apps, moving your data, training the team and going live. It is usually the biggest single cost, and the one that varies most.

Our prices start at:

  • Discovery workshop from €290. A half-day on how you work today, with a written plan and a firm price for the next step. The fee is deducted in full if you continue.
  • Implementation from €1,900 per project. Delivered in phases, each with a price you approve before it starts.

What moves the number:

  • Number of apps. Invoicing and CRM is a short project. Stock, manufacturing and a webshop add time.
  • The state of your data. A clean export from Sage, QuickBooks or Xero takes hours. Spreadsheets that disagree take longer.
  • Exceptions in your process. Each real exception is priced on its own line, so you can decide whether it is worth it.
  • How much you do yourselves. We can deliver everything, or teach you to take parts of it further.

3. Support afterwards

Some companies run Odoo themselves after go-live, with the training and written routines they got. Others want someone on call. Our partner support starts at €120 a month, with priority help, a review every quarter and new apps as you grow. It runs month to month.

Costs that are easy to miss

  • Customisation. Custom code needs Odoo.sh or a larger plan, and makes every yearly upgrade more work. Standard first, customisation later, keeps this down.
  • Third-party apps from the Odoo Apps store, payment fees and hardware such as scanners or receipt printers. These are billed by the supplier.
  • Your own team's time. Someone needs to review the test database and make decisions. Plan for it.

VAT

All prices above exclude VAT. Irish VAT applies to Irish clients on the implementation work. The Odoo subscription is invoiced by Odoo under its own terms.

How to get a real number

A thirty-minute call is usually enough to say which of the three parts you need and roughly where you will land. Discovery then gives you a firm price in writing, before anything is built. You can also try Odoo yourself first with a free trial on odoo.com.
